Alumni Weekend 2012

Celebrating Fifty Years of Inspired Service
United States Senate Youth Alumni Association Activities for March 2nd-3rd, 2012

The United States Senate Youth Alumni Association cordially invites you to join us for our 2012 program, "Celebrating Fifty Years of Inspired Service," on March 2nd-3rd, 2012.

Join us on Friday, March 2nd, at 6:30pm for our Fourteenth Annual Alumni Reception and Dinner. This year, our dinner will be held in the Hall of States of the National Guard Memorial Building. On the schedule are the presentation of the third Rosalie Wynn Hearst Distinguished Public Service Award and the inaugural James T. Molloy Alumni Service Award (recipients TBA). The registration fee includes a networking reception at 6:30 and the dinner program starting at 7:00. Registration is $40 for alumni from Senate Youth Program years 2006–2011, $70 for alumni from prior years and guests of alumni, and $120 for the general public. Award recipients are currently in the final confirmation process, so be sure to reserve your tickets as soon as possible.

On Saturday, March 3rd, the Alumni Association has arranged a tour of the Capitol through U.S. Representative Cory Gardner's (CO 1993, R-CO) office. The tour starts at 10:30am at the statue of Colorado astronaut Jack Swigert in Emancipation Hall. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to provide adequate time to clear security and meet up with the group. Families are welcome at this event.

One of the most engaging highlights of Alumni Weekend is the annual Mentoring Tables activity, which this year starts at 2:30pm on Saturday, March 3rd, at the Mayflower Hotel. At this event, you can greet incoming delegates from the fiftieth anniversary Class of 2012, and share your career and college experiences with the group. Current tables are Government, Business, Education, Law, Journalism, Military, Science/Engineering/Technology, Non-Profit, Health Care, and College.

At 5:30 on Saturday, the alumni depart from the Mentoring Tables and proceed to the Annual Meeting, also located at the Mayflower Hotel. This is an election year for the Alumni Association, where a new board will be selected and new directions and committees for 2012–2014 will be set. If you want to get involved with the Association, this is your opportunity to bring your talents to bear.

Finally, at 8:30 on Saturday evening, join your fellow alumni for an at-your-own-expense social gathering at Vapiano, an Italian restaurant located approximately one block from the Mayflower Hotel. Voted best Italian in the 2011 poll of Washington City Paper readers, Vapiano features reasonably-priced appetizers and entrees in a modern, urban setting.

Please note: While there is no charge to attend any of the Saturday events, registration is required so we can provide a head count to the venues. We look forward to seeing you for an exciting weekend!
